The President of India is the supreme commander of Indian Armed forces , it consists of three professionally uniformed forces Indian Army , Indian Navy and Indian Air Force additionally supported by Indian Coast guards and Paramilitary forces.

The Indian Navy is the naval branch of Indian Armed forces its main objective is to safeguard Indian maritime borders. Originated in 1612 by East India company marine to protect British merchant shipping in the the region. Later east India company established its rule over Indian subcontinent and in 1830 colonel navy was renamed as Majesty’s Indian navy.In 1934 it was renamed as Royal Indian army and after India became a republic country it was renamed as Indian Navy in 1950.
